New EGEA4 follow-up
The EGEA research program has provided essential information for better understanding the role of environmental, lifestyle, and genetic factors in the development or progression of respiratory and allergic diseases. However, new research questions have been raised, particularly regarding the links between respiratory health and other diseases or health disorders, including cardiovascular health, which can only be verified through longitudinal studies spanning several decades. The EGEA cohort is one of the few cohorts in the world that offers the opportunity to provide answers to these new questions.
All those who have already participated in the study are invited to continue contributing to this research by participating in a new follow-up study: this is the fourth phase of the study, 30 years after the start of EGEA. More than 1,300 of you have returned their self-completed questionnaire, representing nearly 75% of those contacted. The second step of this follow-up, including a clinical visit is continuing in the five centers (Lyon, Marseille, Grenoble, Paris, and Montpellier), and as of December 2025, more than 500 participants have already benefited from this EGEA4 follow-up.
The study received favorable approval from the Human Protection Committee Sud-Méditerranée IV (CPP, No. 2022-A02312-41) and authorization from the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL, No. 923025).
ProdNet application
The ProdNet application was developed as part of the new monitoring system for volunteers participating in the EGEA4 study. This application allows EGEA study volunteers to provide information about the cleaning products used in their homes. The data collected by the application guarantees anonymity, and the data is analyzed globally and never individually.
