Determinants of immunoglobulin G responses to respiratory syncytial virus and rhinovirus in children and adultsLogo Cohorte EGEA

Exposure to respiratory viruses is a major cause of morbidity and affects virus-specific antibody (IgG) levels. Little is known about the determinants associated with the immune response to these viruses. We investigated the determinants of specific IgG responses to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and rhinovirus (RV) in children and adults. The results of this study identified different determinants in children and adults and depending on the respiratory virus. In children, rhinovirus-specific IgG levels increased with female gender, older age and lower BMI. Conversely, RSV-specific IgG levels were associated with younger age. In adults, rhinovirus-specific IgG was increased with younger age, female gender, lower BMI and active smoking, while RSV-specific IgG was increased with older age and active smoking.
